Fiddy the Mk1 Pajero

Well, here’s a good one for you: This bloke called Stewart paid fifty quid for a Mk1 Pajero that he had to get flat-bedded home because the engine is deceased and he reckons he’s going to drive it to Greece! You’ve at least got to congratulate his optimism.

Seriously though, this sounds like an interesting project and I wish him all the best. If you want to learn more, check out his very amusing blog here: The Fiddy Pound Pajero

Can You Do Better?

Pajero GirlOK, it’s about time I expanded the scope of this website by offering an open invitation to all readers. Basically I want to get much more input from you people out there by including your photos and stories on this site. What I’d love to see is more input into:

* The Visitor’s Pajeros Section where you friendly folk send me images and stories about your cars

* The soon-to-be-created Public Pajero Photos section where you simply send me images of great Pajeros from around the web or in your own personal collection

So all you need to do is check out the Visitor’s Pajeros section for more info on that, or simply send your Public Pajero photos to me at tim@pajero.org.uk

Mate’s Pajero Going Cheap

Pajero For SaleA friend of mine is having to sell his Pajero and I thought I’d alert everyone to a potential bargain.

The truck has an engine problem which is why he needs to get rid, but apart from that, this is one sweet Pajero. We’re talking about a Paj that has been lovingly looked after over the years and I know he’s totally gutted to be having to let it go.

AIBA Works Steering Guard Added

Pajero AIBA Works GuardI’d been wanting a different steering guard for as long as I’ve had the Pajero, but getting the one with the right look was important to me. After all, the standard one does the job perfectly well, so putting a new one on is about cosmetics as much as anything.

I’ve always liked the aluminium ones with big holes in the front to look at. I’m sure there are other manufacturers that do them, but the AIBA Works guard is a popular one I believe. Even so, it seems that they are very rare and seldom come up second hand.

New Tyres, Painted Wheels

Pajero TyreFinally got myself round to buying some mud tyres for the Pajero. Could have done it months ago, but I’ve always wanted 33 inch tyres and you can’t make these fit a standard Paj. The question is, how much modification do you need to do to make them fit?

Well a typical rule of thumb to be totally safe is to have a 2 inch body lift and a 2 inch suspension lift. But I know that some people have managed to get away with just the body lift to make them fit. My Pajero has what’s known as the Winter Pack, which amongst other things means it’s got a body lift of 40mm (about 1 1/2″).

Ben’s Gunmetal Grey Pajero

Gunmetal Grey PajeroBen got in touch to show off his gunmetal grey 2.5TD SWB. He knows I like this colour and it seems he’s also into his tunes, with a kicking music system.

MOT Time

MOTWell it was that time of the year for me last week - the dreaded MOT test! It’s a few years since I’d had to put a car through the MOT as I’d either had a newish car that didn’t need it or had simply sold the car before needing one. As my Pajero is now 13 years old I was a little bit worried. But on the other hand she’s in great condition so I was also quietly confident she wouldn’t let me down.

Dropped her off at the garage in the morning and kept the mobile phone close to me all day. By the time it got late in the afternoon and I’d not heard anything I started to fear the worst.

Green Laning in North Yorkshire

North YorkshireOn the Sunday of my recent Big Pajero Meet a gang of us set off for a day’s green laning on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Routes had already been mapped about by the team leaders and I simply tagged along. Once we got to the action we split up into three groups with ours bringing up the rear. Our group numbered just three; Steve with wife Fran in their white 2.8, Lee with son in his blue over silver 2.5 and me.

You really couldn’t wish for a more glorious day in terms of getting the best weather England is capable of. Couple this with North Yorkshire’s outstanding beauty and we had a day to remember.

Big Pajero Meet

Mega-Meet 2008On the 10th of May I made my way over to the Blue Dolphin holiday park near Filey for the Pajero Owners Club UK’s annual Mega-Meet. The club has many meets all over the country throughout the year, but this is the main one that attracts members from all over the country.

I decided to camp out for the first time in about 20 years, so was happy that the weather was absolutely fantastic. I stayed Saturday afternoon through to late Sunday afternoon and enjoyed every minute of it. Met lots of new faces as well as some I already knew and got thoroughly immersed in the crazy world of the Pajero. Also enjoyed an excellent barbeque on the Saturday night.

Subwoofer Now Installed

Vibe CBR10This is the final piece in the jigsaw for me in terms of upgrading my Pajero’s music system - the subwoofer.

I’d looked at various ways of adding the required bass to my system and decided an active (amplifier included) enclosed box system suited my needs the best. I read quite a few reviews on this particular box - the Vibe CBR10 Active EVO and thought I’d give it a go. I must say that after having it in place for a couple of weeks that I’m very pleased with my choice.
