Pajero Discussion

As the site gets busier people are emailing me and adding comments to certain posts. This is great - please continue! But some of the comments under certain posts haven’t been relevant to the post topic, so I thought I’d start a section where anything goes. I’ll move comments here from other posts if they aren’t really relevant to the post.

Please post a comment below if you just want to say hello, have a question about Pajeros, or simply want to let everyone know about your truck.

    Hi,

I’ve been looking into the LWB Pajero as my next vehicle. I am interested in a diesel and was wondering which diesel engine would be the best, the 2.5L or the 2.8? Do you notice a big diffrence between the two?

Also what is the max towing capacity for the Pajero?
    Thanks in advance.

p.s. Tim your website is great and has been a great source for information.

    Hi Daryl.
Manuals are available online but from what I’ve heard they’re not very good quality. You can get the real thing from Amazon or certain Pajero clubs. Thankfully been translated from Japanese. I’ve got one and it’s well worth the money.

    Hi Tom,
Have you had a look at the front section of the Haynes chapter on steering and suspension for the torque settings? Also has a section on ball joints, but I don’t know if it’s any good. Hope this helps!

Hi - any advice here would be much appreciated!. I have a 1991 SWB pajero and need to replace the antiroll bar links (the lolly pop non ball joint type) does anyone know the torque settings on the bolts. I cant find these on the haynes manual or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks in advance. Tom
ps I also need to change the bottom ball joints and track rod ends - any idiot guide web sites recommended?

I’ve been out of action for a while, hence not replying to your valuable input.

Freerk - great to hear from you and thanks for sharing your Pajero’s story. I’d love to make more of a feature of it, so I’ve sent an email.

Matt - thanks for the input over Mike’s radio. Hopefully this helps Mike with his radio and it’s one for me to note in the future.

Martin - thanks for the advice over Karon’s problem. Sounds like you know what you’re talking about!

    Thanks again everyone - Tim

    Karon,

Sounds like your alternator belt is slack. If you cant tighten it (if it to far along the travel), it probably needs replacing - not a quick job on the Pajero (maybe 1-2 hours labour). If the battery has charged and been depleted a number of times it is probably shot with too many dead cells and you may need to replace the battery. While the engine is running you should be able to tell if any charge is going to the battery using a normal multimeter.
