The thing about my Mitsubishi Pajero is that it has lots and lots of toys and gadgets. Fine if you know what they all do but I hadn’t a clue. And it’s not like just having to work out the electric mirrors and lights on a ‘regular’ car, there’s all sorts of weird and wonderful buttons and switches to suss out. I don’t even know what to do with the four wheel drive selector yet.
But I have help! In the weeks (seems like years) that I spent looking for a good Pajero I was familiarising myself with this unknown world through the website run by the Pajero Owners Club (UK).
It seemed obvious to me early on that I should join the club (you get yellow stickers to stick in your truck!) which I did and I also got my insurance for the truck through a scheme they run with a company called 2Gether. Insurance can be a little tricky to find from regular insurers as the Pajero is an import. I found that when doing online searches the insurance companies would often not display my model of car exactly. No such problem with 2Gether and the other companies the club suggested. They were great and even gave me an introductory no-claims discount. I didn’t have any no-claims myself as I’d been a named driver on my wife’s insurance for about 5 years.
Anyway, back to the forums. Any question you’ve got about your new gadgets or virtually anything to do with these vehicles gets answered very quickly. I can’t praise it enough really.
I’m very busy with work at the moment, but I managed to get out for a couple of hours this afternoon to try out some of the buttons I’d been reading about on the forums the night before. It’s a steep learning curve but I’m loving it.
